MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
Minimum of 2 years accounting work experience, preferably governmental accounting.
Requires extensive spreadsheet experience.
Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and techniques.
Considerable knowledge of electronic data processing, such as Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to relate and work effectively with other county employees, department heads and commissioners.
Ability to relate and work effectively with the general public and other local government officials and boards.
JOB OVERVIEW
This is a professional accounting position that works under the general supervision of the accounting manager.
This position is required to have the education and experience necessary to provide professional accounting services in a governmental setting.
The successful candidate must have the ability to review and analyze accounting and budgeting issues, oversee accounts payable, work with various entities by reviewing their budgets and financial reports to determine tax levy, supervise special project reimbursements and expenses such as floods, diversion and home buyouts using generally accepted accounting principles, compute tax levies in accordance with state law, assist in the review of levies and tax amounts for accuracy prior to printing tax statements, and assist with elections.
