JOB FUNCTION:
Support New Americans in understanding and navigating the child care system, and develop and strengthen CAPLP Child Care Connection’s relationships with the New American communities in West Central Minnesota.
Build trusting relationships with New American caregivers.
Use strengths-based tools to support caregivers in their learning journey.
Promote children’s healthy physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development.
Connect caregivers to services and resources, and help them navigate the Legal Non-Licensed registration or Licensed Family Child Care process.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum High school diploma or GED equivalent 1 year of practical experience working directly with young children in an early childhood setting Proficiency in at least one other language common to the local New American communities (i.
e.
, Somali, Swahili, or Arabic) Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, and prioritization skills Ability to work independently and within a flexible schedule.
Some evening and weekends may be required.
Must hold a valid driver’s license, current insurance coverage if using own vehicle, and be able to arrange transportation to meet with clients and conduct business within the service delivery area.

Develops and maintains relationships with county child care licensors, cultural resource centers, Head Start, First Children’s Finance and other social service agencies working with culturally diverse populations.
Collaborates with New American community partner organizations to support caregivers in their communities.
Works with leaders in the New American community regarding the business of child care.
Works with CAPLP Child Care Connections staff to ensure that culturally diverse providers are aware of and able to participate in agency programs such as Child Care Assistance, SNAP, Parent Aware and other options.
Tracks activities and outreach to the child care community and others as needed.
Supports the child care licensing/business start-up process including family, friend and neighbor (FFN) care; legally non-licensed (LNL) child care; and licensed family child care (FCC) with those in the New American/culturally diverse communities.
