Position Purpose Provides supervision and guidance of the daily play and educational activities with children of the Child Care Department in keeping with the overall goals and objectives of Fraser to ensure quality childcare.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Instruction: Leads children in daily, structured schedules of activities.
Provides a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, experiences, and materials Engage children in active and meaningful learning that achieve the following goals: • Foster positive self-identity and sense of emotional well-being • Develop social skills and knowledge that respect diversity • Encourage children to think, reason, question, and experiment (as used in math, science, social studies) • Encourage language (speaking, listening) and literacy development (reading and writing awareness skills) • Enhance physical development and skills • encourage and demonstrate sound health, safety, and nutritional practices • encourage creative expression and appreciation for the arts.
Implement activities and lesson plans that meet the National Academy for the Education of Young Children standards.

Provide multi-cultural and special needs awareness within classroom environment and lesson plans.
Collaborate with Special Needs Coordinator to complete special needs objectives and programming.
Assess the skills and progress of each child through the use of observations, assessment tools, and activity records.
Documentation: Complete all documentation as directed by Special Needs Coordinator and Director of Children’s Services.

and special needs documentation as required.
Report all health and safety hazards to the Director of Child Care Services.
Supervision: Supervise classroom and childcare aides effectively ensuring departmental goals and objectives are being met.
Reports any staff conflicts to the Director of Children’s Services in a timely manner.
Safety: Maintains an organized, healthy, and safe room environment.
Follows Fraser Child Care’s emergency procedures for fire, accident, tornado, and winter storms.
Completes the daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
Training: Trains and orients child care aides on the knowledge and skills necessary to be a successful employee.
Attends staff meetings, in-service training, and educational workshops.
Customer Service: Uses tact when addressing parents; demonstrates acceptance of varying parenting styles; reports problems with parents to Director of Children’s Services.
Participates in ICCP, IEP, parent meetings, and conduct annual conferences.
Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises childcare aide staff.
Additional Duties, Responsibilities and Qualifications Education and/or Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in field of early childhood development, special education, or related field.
Willingness to increase skills and competence through experience, training, and supervision.
Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid.
Certify within 30 days of employment that they do not have health problems that would interfere with their position or would be detrimental to the health of the children.
Ability to relate with peers, children, and parents.
Preferred: Training and demonstrated ability in working with all children of all abilities Experience in successfully managing a child care classroom.
Experience in successfully supervising employees.
