Benefits Eligible? No Job Summary/Basic Function The primary responsibility of this position is to provide superior food and beverage customer service to Catering by Concordia guests through the set, serve, and clean-up of catered functions both on and off-campus.
Responsibilities are shaped largely by the requirements of each unique event.
This includes setting up catered events including setting tables with dishes, flatware, glasses, etc.
, setting up dishing and/or buffet lines, serving meals, and tearing down including dishwashing.
It is also responsible for food safety and sanitation and the overall satisfaction of Concordia College guests.
Significant face-to-face customer interaction with exemplary service is required with strong attention to detail, and the ability to work a flexible schedule.
Position Responsibilities 1.
Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position.
2.
Deliver, set up, dish, serve, tear down and clean up small-scale catering events without direct supervision and assist with the same for large events – 60% 3.
Serve as lead staff and give direction to student staff at small and medium catering events and provide top quality customer service in meeting and exceeding the needs of Dining Services customers – 15% 4.
Ensure a safe and clean serving and dining area adhering to standards of sanitation and safety as established by local, state, and federal health officials – 10% 5.
General office duties, maintaining, organizing, inventory, and cleaning catering equipment and storage facilities – 5% 6.
Work with student employees, co-workers, and management in service to our customers, assist with student employee recruitment and retention and assist in training and providing direction to student catering staff – 10% Minimum Qualifications High-School Diploma/GED; ServSafe certificate or similar food safety course certificate, or pass the ServSafe exam within the first year of employment; Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications Basic employment skills: reading, oral and written communication, performing simple arithmetic, operating basic office equipment (i.
e.
copier, multi-line telephone system, etc.
), understanding basic inventory management; Standard catering skills, e.
g.
: dishing, serving, etc.
; A broad range of technical catering and kitchen skills, e.
g.
: coffee and other beverage dispensers, food warmers, chafing pans, dish machines, etc; Customer service skills to interact with guests of the college to meet their needs and requests in a timely and appropriate manner; Ability to replenish food items including various large, hot, heavy, and/or cumbersome containers (hot pans, dish racks, etc.
); Ability to serve food/wait on guests according to standard procedures; Ability to drive and maneuver a delivery truck; Communication skills to give directions to student employees and work with other staff to ensure that proper procedures are being followed; Ability to engage our customers with an attitude of willingness and dedication to serving; Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
