ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform essential functions satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation; including, but not limited to:
Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of the position
Work with the facility’s dietitian to implement recommended changes, assist in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by attending physician
Order, prepare, and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in accordance with portion control procedures, as well as for therapeutic diets in accordance with scheduled menus and sanitary regulations
Recognize and respond to dietary emergencies, and document observations, interventions and outcomes
Complete forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc.
, to ensure control of equipment and supplies
Assist with a plan of correction for dietary deficiencies noted during survey inspections
Document nutritional screen data in medical record, review intake records, do visual meal rounds, and document food intake.
Conduct initial interviews with new admits and participate in client care conferences and provide clients with basic nutritional education.
Supervise staff in preparation and serving of modified consistency and therapeutic diets and supplemental feedings.
Purchase, receive, and store food following established sanitation and quality guidelines as well as purchase, store and ensure safe use of chemicals and cleaning agents.
Develop work schedules, cleaning schedules and prepare work assignments
Interview, hire, and train new employees as well as conducting employee performance evaluations.
Also supervise, discipline and terminate employees as needed.
Supervise business and foodservice operations of dietary department.
QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Minimum of 18 years of age with good moral character.
2.
ServSafe certification desired.
3.
Prior work experience in healthcare environment, sufficient enough to meet position requirements.
4.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
5.
Ability to organize, plan, and work autonomously.
6.
Have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
7.
Experience with healthcare menu planning software.
8.
Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients, families, and other facility staff on a daily basis.
9.
Maintains a positive attitude and a special interest working with long-term care patients
