Overview:
Partners with the Vice President of Commercial Services, Senior Principal of Commercial Management, the Associate General Counsel, and Operations leadership to oversee client contract negotiations, contract exhibit development and negotiation, project risk mitigation, and post-execution claims and change management support.
Responsibilities: Drive the company’s future direction by developing and implementing strategic and tactical initiatives including the department’s strategy, vision, budget and business plans.
Establish and maintain relationships with existing and new clients.
Develop and continuously improve all standard operating procedures, systems and processes for the department necessary to professionalize Contract Management within MasTec Renewables based on industry standards and best practices.
Oversee, mentor, and develop contract management staff within the Commercial Services Department.
Promote employee growth and development and a positive team environment with a focus on building positive department morale.
Attract, hire, develop, and maintain top-tier, yet cost competitive, talent in the department and the Company.
Consistently execute MasTec Renewables’ strategic priorities and initiatives while fostering a results-oriented environment.
Review estimating risk analysis and project classification to advise in project risk register development and risk analysis, including a review of contingency funds and management reserves.
Lead client contract negotiations through closure of project deals and signing of client project agreement.
Support development of contracting positions to mitigate, avoid, or transfer risk exposure that may arise during project execution.
Support the preconstruction team to ensure that the contract construction schedule has been developed accurately and in sufficient detail for the project, including an analysis against contractual delay penalties, if applicable.
Ensure that the scope of work, schedule of values, engineering, and the construction schedule are all aligned and captured appropriately in commercial documents.
Negotiate, develop, review, track, and finalize all contract exhibits and supporting documentation and support project preconstruction planning activities after project award.
Contribute to the development and review of the project execution plan for key commercial and risk management components along with training of project teams on such components.
Act as an advisor to project teams and operations leadership on all client management, notices, claims, warranty, and all other commercial or contractual matters.
Act as an advisor to the procurement team, project teams, and operations leadership on subcontract and vendor management, notices, claims, warranty, and all other commercial or contractual matters.
Act as an advisor and support to the Insurance team, project teams, and operations leadership on commercial and contract management related issues, including commercial insurance claims.
Lead project-focused Contract Managers to ensure timely and accurate provision of commercial management services for projects.
Perform reviews and undertake both site and office-based audits of project teams’ adherence to the Company’s commercial standard operating procedures.
Qualifications: Education and Work Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business, construction, or engineering related fields or equivalent engineering, procurement, and construction contracting experience 10+ years relevant experience Previous Renewable Energy experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company’s Zero Injury principles Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Strong negotiation skills Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and construction management software Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment Work well under pressure and ability to meet timelines and deadlines Work well both independently and as contributor to teams Ability to lead, manage and develop a team of professionals Read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model MasTec, Inc.
