The Senior Financial Accountant will work with the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting on executing the key accounting and finance deliverables for the Company and managed REITs.
The role requires an individual who is highly detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis.
This position must be able to prioritize work and to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines.
This individual must also have good problem-solving and analytical skills and be knowledgeable in real estate operations and accounting.
Leadership, strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal and organization skills are essential to this position for the candidate to work with various levels of management and peers across the business and with various third parties.
Excellent business logic will be critical to the success of the role and will often require interpretation of financial information to support strategic business decisions.
Starting salary $70,000 per year (or more based on experience).
Job Duties Include:
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of our client’s financial reporting requirements, general ledger structure and internal controls.
• Assist in executing an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close.
• Assist the CFO and Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting with budget and forecasting activities.
• Respond to inquiries from Executive Leadership regarding financial results and analysis.
• Review property level balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, property budgets and forecasts.
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and applicable schedules to balance the general ledger, post related entries, and ensure accurate recording.
• Review capital expenditures for proper capitalization or expense under company policy.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; two or more years’ related experience and/or training.
• Yardi Property Management Software is preferred.
• Microsoft Power BI is preferred.
• Experience with SEC reporting preferred.
• Experience with SOX compliance preferred.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices, standards, laws and regulations; and comfort with some complex accounting issues preferred.
