Description & Details: Join the American Indian Public Health Resource Center team in the Department of Public Health to expand public health education and training efforts in coordination with tribal communities, tribal colleges and universities, and tribal health programs.
This is a full time grant funded position through June 30, 2024.
The position may be renewed contingent upon funding.
In this position, you will identify and implement public health education initiatives in conjunction with tribal communities by: · Engaging with tribal colleges and other organizations in public health educational curriculum development · Collaborating with the NDSU MPH and Graduate Certificate Programs · Working directly with tribal health programs to identify community health needs · Developing public health education materials for community members, public health workforce, tribal leaders, and other key stakeholder groups · Coordinating, conducting, and participating in trainings and meetings, and serving on committees as needed, focusing on public health education · Meeting with tribal communities and health entities several times per year to develop and present public health education materials, coordinate education activities, and other activities as necessary · Assisting with data analysis and reporting You will provide technical assistance to tribal nations and tribal serving institutions by: · Providing in depth technical assistance and training to tribes, organizations, and community-based entities in areas including, but not limited to, public health education curriculum development and dissemination, undergraduate and graduate public health education, use of technology, and areas of expertise You will participate grant writing and sustainability efforts by: · Assisting with identifying grant opportunities, grant development, and proposal writing, including, but not limited to 1) Developing and writing grant proposals and 2) Assembling grant requests, including letters, proposals, and budgets Administration services conducted include: · Writing press releases and other media communications to promote the Center · Preparing and editing organizational publications, including Center newsletter and annual report · Leading efforts to address public health disparities with tribes through technical assistance, policy development, self-determination feasibility analysis, education, research, and programming · Serving, when possible, on local, regional, tribal, and national boards and committees · Seeking contracts and grant funding · Providing technical assistance training to staff and tribal communities in area of expertise · Publishing, present, and vend at local, regional, tribal, and national conferences and events Advertised Salary: commensurate with experience Minimum Qualifications: BA or BS- Public health, health education, health promotion, education, indigenous tribal studies or related field Knowledge of the principles and methods of public health practice; considerable knowledge about public health education processes, including material development and dissemination Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks with competing internal/external deadlines; ability to organize project tasks to assure that deliverables are completed within designated time frames; ability to work effectively in a team environment; ability to develop and sustain cooperative relationships with representatives of national, state, and local stakeholder groups.
Demonstrated interest and/or strong understanding of public health issues.
Experience and strong interest in providing technical assistance.
Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training.
Demonstrated professional aptitude and cultural competency.
Knowledge of state and national organizations and the national public health field.
Knowledge of American Indian health disparities.
Ability to coordinate and facilitate community discussions.
At least two years of professional experience in public health or education-related position(s).
