Job Information
Responsible for leading the creation and implementation of the strategic import and export logistics processes for a respective region.
Support regional implementation of global initiatives by resourcing and networking with other departments to support successful outcomes.
Lead a team to deliver effective, efficient, and compliant import and export shipping for the region, adhering to all applicable internal, external, legal, regulatory, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Ensure coordination with other departments like supply chain, operations, trade compliance, and finance.
Develop, maintain, and communicate critical metrics; financial, carrier performance, and associated industry trends.
Facilitate sharing of key performance indicators and metrics monthly to show operational health.
Working with the trade compliance group to ensure proper documentation is followed on all shipments.
Responsible for relationships with various international carriers (small parcel, LCL, FCL, airlines, steamship lines, freight forwarders, drayage carriers) around the globe in both day-to-day operations, volume planning, and contract negotiations.
Work with key vendors on monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews, ensuring auditable tracking of actions and resolutions.
Role & Responsibility Strategy • In accordance with AOP and LRP objectives, plan and execute an import and export strategy for all products that achieves customer expectations while maximizing cost efficiencies.
• Develop an import/export team to support LRP growth plans that provides added value to the organization.
Leading A Team • Document all standard work, processes, and tools are accessible to all employees to ensure proper training, consistency, & continuity of work performed.
• Mentor, coach and develop a team consistent with the organizational objectives and growth plans.
Collaboration • Identify import/export issues, develop solutions, and provides guidance to executive management on resolving those concerns.
• Provide timely guidance and support of preferred shipping methods, costs, and timing of off shore shipments to various stakeholders for New Product Development along with existing supply chain processes.
• Work closely with Trade Compliance team to ensure proper documentation is available for all shipments.
Governance • Create and implement processes and monitor compliance through formal continuous assessments on service and cost metrics.
• Ensure processes, procedures, and record-keeping are up to date for exports and foreign trade zones and import alignment within mandated guidelines as defined by Trade Compliance team.
Supplier Relationship • Provides coordination and direction to customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to ensure smooth logistic and customs activities.
• Conduct timely request for proposals, negotiate and manage various contracts.
• Create and publish financial and performance scorecards for core carriers.
Change Management: • Drive adoption of a customer-centric philosophy by bringing awareness of deficiencies in the current state to managers & employees of each function, assisting them in developing their plan to improve, and tracking their progress.
• Challenge the status quo, bring new approaches to logistics while driving innovation and greater visibility to real time logistic data.
Job Requirement • Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience Required: >7 years • Travel Required: 24-50% • MBA preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the Supply Chain elements.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to execute/deliver results.
• Strategic and able to deliver solutions to business problems.
• Proven self-motivated change agent.
• Skilled in developing relationships across departments.
• Flexible with the capacity for change and ambiguity.
