Position Title: Evening Lead/Trainer Custodian
Location: Cheney Middle School
Department: Maintenance/Custodial
Reports To: Custodial Services Manager, School Principal
Term: Year-round position
Schedule: Mon-Fri.
Specific hours to be determined.
Salary: Position follows 2023-2024 Classified Salary Schedule Date of last review: December 2023 SUMMARY: The Evening Lead/Trainer Custodian is responsible, under limited supervision, for assigning, inspecting, reviewing, and providing direction to a group of custodial workers.
The Evening Lead/Trainer Custodian ensures the district buildings and grounds are regularly and thoroughly cleaned, equipment properly maintained, safety standards upheld, and school grounds are maintained to the standards of the district.
The Evening Lead/Trainer Custodian utilizes and orients staff in the use of the district’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for logging daily work assignments, individual work orders, and equipment records.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and requirement satisfactorily.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned) Collaboration: Develops positive, effective working relationships with learners and staff.
Supports building custodians by covering gaps in service across various buildings.
Assists in all receiving and delivery operations.
Communication: Connects and shares ideas through appropriate/applicable formats to express thoughts and ideas with integrity.
Provides building security by reporting all damages to the supervisor and ensuring all doors are locked at applicable times.
Maintains a current manual of safety data sheets on all chemicals and cleaning substances used in district buildings and assists other staff members in obtaining information from the manual.
Documents and reports safety hazards and potential facility, grounds, or potential security compromises or problems.
Compassion: Understands the complexities of cultural and global issues and how they relate to employee and learners’ experiences.
Partners with others to resolve potential controversy and conflict through respectful discussion.
Proactively seeks to understand the ideas, opinions, and skills of others.
Creativity: Connects with team members and shares ideas in an effort to improve the overall learner and employee experience.
Critical Thinking: Observes all building cleanliness by utilizing the CompuClean program.
Complies with all district procedures, rules, and regulations set forth in the safety manual.
Maintains safety, efficiency, and operating condition of equipment by routinely following manufacturer’s operating procedures and instructions.
Tracks and sets up newly acquired equipment using the CMMS.
Reflection: Maintains communication with supervisor and director regarding general feedback, career advancement opportunities, and areas of growth opportunities.
Resilience: Maintains composure while dealing with stressful situations.
Proactively seeks out resolutions and takes initiative to resolve knowledge gaps.
Responsibility: Assists new employees with training for equipment operation and chemical safety requirements.
Assists in the hiring and orientation of new employees.
Oversees and maintains safety and appearance of the district grounds by picking up and disposing of trash, removal of snow and ice, and mowing and trimming.
Assists in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed.
Ensures all furnishings, supplies, equipment, grounds, and building interiors and exteriors are maintained for a safe, secure environment for learners, employees, and visitors to the district.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
While performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear.
The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, and/or controls.
The employee is required to bend at the trunk more than the average person.
The specific vision abilities required for this role include close and peripheral vision.
The employee may be required to lift up to ~50 pounds.
The employee may be required to climb ladders up to ~20 feet in height.
The employee will frequently be exposed to applicable outdoor elements.
The employee will frequently be exposed to items of high temperature, chemical compounds, and/or sharp edges.
The employee must work with the public and various WFPS staff while simultaneously managing several competing demands.
The employee may work in an environment that has a moderate to loud noise level.
The employee may come in contact with bloodborne pathogens or other bodily fluids on rare occasions.
The employee will frequently be exposed to items of high or cold temperatures, chemical compounds, and/or sharp edges.
Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
Previous experience as a building custodian is required.
Must be able to operate floor maintenance equipment, snow blower, lawn mower, trimmer, and all cleaning equipment.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, comprehend simple instructions and short correspondences, and communicate in the English language.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, expressively, and reactively.
Other Skills and Abilities: Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgement.
Adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
