Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) | Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Position Details
Performs a variety of laboratory tests on specimens received from the hospital, nursing home, clinic, ER, and outpatient in accordance with department, hospital, and accreditation agencies.
Maintains and troubleshoots instruments and checks and verifies abnormal results as required for quality control.
Collects and/or processes specimens; evaluates specimens for acceptability and serves as a technical resource for the collection process.
Performs laboratory testing in an accurate and timely manner.
Recognizes safety hazards and takes corrective action, seeking assistance when necessary.
Engages positively with patients and visitors, striving to fulfill their needs and requests when possible.
What You Offer
Successful completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory program.
Registered or eligible for registry by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Work Schedule
PRN/Casual
Must be willing to work PM, overnights, weekends, and holidays per the lab department's casual agreement.
Casual agreement guidelines are as follows:
Minimum of 4 shifts in an eight-week schedule period
Minimum of 2 weekend shifts in an eight-week schedule period
Evening and/or night shifts, at a minimum of 13 shifts annually
2 holidays per year
