JOB SUMMARY: The Unit Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of activity focused programing, staff training, and family support, in accordance with applicable governmental and organizational standards as indicated by the mission statement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Valid MN RN licensure.
2.
Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders, with willingness to attend training sessions and/or continuing education.
3.
Must have experience in doing assessments, completing documentation, and care planning.
4.
Must have experience in management of staff.

MAIN DUTIES:
A.
Direct and review written policies and procedures that support the Unit’s mission statement.
B.
Ensure that personnel, families, visitors, and attending physicians follow established policies and procedures.
C.
Be available to train new facility employees concerning support of residents with the disease and needs for safety and appropriate distraction/redirection techniques.
D.
Provide facility wide education and in-services on disorders for staff and families.
E.
Meet with families during inquiries about unit.
F.
Complete assessment of residents on unit and those prospective residents prior to admission on unit with families.
G.
Follow up on all residents hospitalized for more than 48 hours.
H.
Be available to families and staff when a resident crisis or death has occurred.
I.
Work closely with the interdisciplinary team in giving information about unit and the specifics of programming.
J.
Implement quality assurance monitors to ensure program accountability and success.
K.
Hold meetings with staff working on unit.
L.
Hold briefings between A.
M.
and P.
M.
shift to ensure continuity of care.
M.
Monitor the running of the unit daily, including staffing, programming, resident’s care, and communicate with DON and Administrator about unit.
N.
Attend all department head meetings as required.
O.
Complete MDS progress notes, as necessary for unit, and oversee the daily activity attendance sheets as necessary.
P.
Completing admission and discharge forms.
Q.
Evaluating and adjusting treatment plans based on patient condition.
R.
Communicating procedural issues with the director of nursing and working to correct them.
S.
Acting as a liaison between patients' families and healthcare staff.
T.
Follow established fire, disaster, safety, infection control, and evacuation policies and procedures.
U.
Perform other related duties as directed by the Administrator and DON.
V.
Monthly rotational call.
