Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join our accounting team.
This role will collaborate with our management teams.
The position will also have primary responsibility for the overall accounting and monthly closing cycle for the properties we manage.
Responsibilities:
Tracking tenant activity through communication with property manager including posting monthly rents and vacancies.
Manage property receivables including producing late rent letters when needed.
Review and posting of invoices to correct properties – experience with allocations a plus.
Assuring payments to vendors are processed in a timely manner.
Reconcile and manage all cash accounts.
Demonstrate the ability to post, analyze and resolve general ledger transactions.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation and distribution of the properties internal and external financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
Meet audit and tax preparation deadlines with third party auditors/tax preparers at year-end.
Assist in preparation of budgets in coordination with Area and Regional Managers
Making the decisions necessary to schedule, coordinate and accomplish the duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the policies and procedures of MetroPlains and the properties, with legal and contractual requirements, and with sound business practices.
Maintain interface with departmental heads, owners, and government agencies to ensure compliance with established budgets, operational plans, and government regulations.
Education & Experience:
High school education or the equivalent.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to relate to a diverse group of people.
Exceptional critical thinking skills.
Physical Demands:
Seldom requires lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
Often required to sit, stand, walk, bend knees, stretch arms, talk, and hear.
Requires face-to-face contact/telephone/or use of technology for conversations/discussions with individuals or groups of people.
Requires use of a computer to process information.
Requires reading and creating letters, documents, spreadsheets, and memos.
