Microsoft Tax & Customs Department is responsible for Worldwide Tax & Customs Reporting, Compliance, and Planning, including the technology and process & innovation functions to support the coordination of the worldwide tax and Customs functions.
We are looking for Indirect Tax Analyst.
There are four major functions within the Tax and Customs Department.
1) Tax Reporting and Transfer Pricing
2) Customs, Tax Process & Innovation,
3) Corporate Tax Planning & Controversies, Indirect Tax & Global Business Initiatives
4) Tax & Customs Controllership, Policy and Benefits Taxation

Responsibilities
Support customer escalations by reviewing case details, determining proper course of action.
Evaluate tax requirements for credit/rebill and refund requests.
Manage End to End Credit/Rebill and Refund Request processes.
Collaborate with the Compliance Team on Credit/Rebill Reporting.
Determine work appropriate for Managed Services.
Evaluate and Update Desktop Procedures for Managed Services.
Manage, guide and review work outsourced to Managed Services.
Manage, review, and approve exemption certificates.
Collaborate with teams to implement process improvements to Exemption Certificate Management processes.
Support Indirect Tax audits by compiling and analyzing audit data and documentation to support tax positions.
Evaluate audit findings, preparing and coordinating responses to inquiries from tax authorities and preparing and presenting to tax authorities.
Maintains audit inventory and audit status/progress reports.
Collaborate with the business groups, technology teams and tax compliance team to implement changes to improve tax compliance.
Collaborate with the Tax Process & Technology team to evaluate and design process improvements, tools, and opportunities for automation.
Ensure proper accounting for indirect tax transactions, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Qualifications
Required / Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 4+ years of direct and indirect tax compliance, tax returns, tax accounting, or tax audit management experience
OR Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 4+ years of direct and indirect tax compliance, tax returns, tax accounting, or tax audit management experience
OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent.
3+ years of applicable experience.
Demonstrated technical, analytical, project management and organizational skills.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and SharePoint.
Experience working with large data sets, data analytic skills and data blending tools (experience with SQL or Alteryx is a plus).
Experience and knowledge of SAP, Vertex, and other tax/billing systems is a plus.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with team members, business stakeholders and customers.
Exhibit analytical thinking, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated prioritization and organizational skills.
Tax IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.
S.
is USD $72,800 - $144,000 per year.
There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,100 - $157,900 per year.
