Position Summary:
As the Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the organization by delivering high-quality eye care to patients.
Working in a fast-paced environment, you will assist with various clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional patient experiences.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for providing compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with patient care under the direct supervision of the eye care provider.
* Obtain appropriate consent forms and paperwork prior to office procedures.
* Orient patients to office procedures they will undergo.
* Conduct diagnostic testing as delegated by the eye care provider.
* Administer medications and carry out tasks delegated by the eye care provider.
* Perform basic and routine vision screening examinations.
* Gather complete and accurate patient history and assessment for all patients.
* Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments.
* Provide appropriate patient educational materials and answer patient questions when possible.
Obtain resources for patient and family concerns as needed.
* Work towards team goals while demonstrating organizational values and responsible resource utilization.
* Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and physicians.
* Assist with maintenance, calibration, stocking, and cleaning of exam rooms and procedure rooms as assigned.
* Work effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
* Assist in maintaining the flow of patient care within the clinic.
* Adhere to fire safety, HIPAA, OSHA, and ADA protocols.
* Continually strive to enhance skills through practice, self-study, and continuing education programs approved by the Clinical Supervisor.
* Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* 1+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Assistant preferred, but not required.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with a personable and empathetic approach to addressing patient needs and concerns.
* Ability to follow oral and written directions.
* Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
* Preferred: Experience and knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, with the ability to use them efficiently.
* This role entails constant activity, necessitating standing and walking throughout the day to escort patients to rooms, support physicians, and share duties with fellow staff members.
It may also involve lifting or relocating items weighing more than 20 pounds
