The Patient Access Specialist will be responsible for clerical and reception duties associated with patient scheduling and registration and will handle all incoming calls pertinent to the Radiology Department.
The person will be first point of contact with patients and ensure their needs are met.
The person will be expected to display strong customer service and communication skills to properly assist patients.
A variety of clerical procedures must be performed that will require independent judgement so employee must act with accuracy and a great deal of diplomacy and tact.
Assumes responsibilities for record keeping, appointments, and all incoming telephone correspondence.
This position reports directly to the Radiology Office Supervisor and/or Radiology Director and in cooperation with the Radiologist.
The person has direct and indirect (telephone) contact with patients, LRH employees, volunteers, clinic personnel, physicians, visitors, families, outside organizations, and other hospitals and clinics.
This position has access to sensitive, confidential information and must be able to maintain those confidences.
The employee must be able to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
High school diploma or equivalent level of education preferred.
Medical terminology helpful.
Keyboard/typing skills, proficient, and professional communication skills, both verbal and written required.
Accuracy in spelling and general clerical skills is essential.
