00 Department Details We are an 18 bed ICU.
We currently encompass the 2nd floor of the East tower at Sanford Health Broadway Hospital in the heart of downtown Fargo.
While we have a focus in Oncology, you find that we see a variety of medical and surgical ICU patients.
We care for complex surgical cases that require ICU care as well as kidney transplants and bone marrow transplants.
As an Academic Teaching Facility, you can expect that you will receive education and experience with all these types of patients as well as your typical Medical ICU patients.
We offer Clinical Lanes for our nurses with pay increases after each lane is completed.
There are a number of professional development opportunities for education, serving on committees and training to be a preceptor or rapid response nurse.
Job Summary The Registered Nurse in the Clinical Care Leader (CCL) role facilitates health care services for patients in cooperation with the health care team.
Facilitates communication and provision of information and messages in a way that produces clarity and impact.
Understands the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results and the ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team.
Applies the concept of collaboration to build relationships and coordinate with other teams.
Provides feedback to members of the health care team.
Responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.
Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
Cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move along the continuum of care.
Responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions.
Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure.
The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
Competent in the registered nurse (RN) skills of the unit/department.
Knowledge of procedures and programs to ensure employee safety.
Assumes leadership role in high-risk situations.
Coordinates the clinical/unit nursing activities while adhering to Sanford Health philosophy, goals, and standards of care.
Acknowledges their impact on budget and finance through staffing and ensuring safe patient care.
The CCL uses critical thinking skills to collaborate and coordinate patient care and manage emergent situations, for the specific assigned clinical setting.
Responsible to intervene when unsafe practices are identified.
Responsible to make patient assignments based on employee's competencies, scope of practice, experience and patient's unique needs.
Demonstrates effective communication skills to negotiate and resolve conflicts with and between peers, inter-professional colleagues, patients and families.
Serves as a mentor to staff while facilitating the over-all unit activities.
Participates in house-wide and/or departmental committees and assists with the coordination of the Peer Review Process for employees.
Participates in active learning and development resources.
The nurse has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients according to department scope of service.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nursing strongly preferred.
Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
A minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience required, two years preferred.
Demonstrated involvement in clinical process improvement initiatives preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
Certification may be required depending on specialty or service area.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of employment into position.
