Responsibilities: - Assist in preparing the operating room for surgery, including setting up surgical instruments and equipment - Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment - Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and supplies - Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery - Prepare and maintain sterile field during surgery - Assist with wound closure by applying sutures or staples - Collect and label specimens for laboratory analysis - Document patient information, such as medical history and surgical procedures, in medical records - Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe operating environment Skills: - Basic life support (BLS) certification - Proficient in data collection and documentation - Knowledge of medical records management systems - Familiarity with hospital protocols and procedures - Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus - Ability to handle and suture delicate tissues - Knowledge of ICU protocols and equipment is beneficial - Understanding of infection control practices to prevent the spread of disease - Strong physiology knowledge to assist with patient monitoring Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
