We are currently seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Billing Specialist.
Schedule: This is a Monday-Friday position; hours may vary based on business needs.
Salary: $18.

What you will do: The Billing/Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for a variety of duties, which may include routine electronic billing posting and problem-solving for various payers, including insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and private pay, and special projects in billing and collection.
In addition, the Specialist may be responsible for billing and posting for special contracts and obtaining and/or entry of prior authorizations.
The Billing Specialist is responsible for clear, detailed communication with the clinical and billing staff, payers, and clients regarding various insurance-related and payment-related issues.
Responsibilities may also include researching and resolving client insurance claims that are denied or uncollected and, also, working with the clinical staff members to resolve billing problems.
Communication with clients is trauma-informed, reflecting sensitive, thoughtful, and courteous communication while considering the emotional nature of our work.
Other special projects may be assigned.
Purpose
We walk alongside our clients during their mental health journeys, and we advocate for our clients by connecting them with the resources they need to accomplish their mental health goals.
File claims to insurance companies for services provided to patients at Dakota Family Services.
Process secondary and tertiary claims to insurance companies.
Assist with financial counseling meetings with families to arrange future payments and communicate the cost of services.
Interact with staff, clients, payers, and Agencies to answer questions, obtain information, and resolve issues.

Minimum qualifications/education:

The Billing/Accounts Receivable Specialist should possess experience in using an electronic medical record system, billing, posting, and adjudicating claims.
Specialized experience (1-3 years) in behavioral health billing services is preferred.
Other vital skills include the ability to work independently, the ability to work collaboratively on projects, the ability to create channels of communication to obtain information necessary to perform job tasks, such as with clients, payers, clinical staff, and billing department staff; the ability to recognize individual and system problems and to communicate such information the supervisor, excellent written and verbal communications skills; outstanding attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
This position requires mastery of a large amount of detail.
Outstanding computer skills with billing software, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel, able to learn organizational systems and good keyboarding skills.
