Food Safety & Quality Assurance Intern
Hours: Primarily day shift, with flexibility for off-shift hours to facilitate projects
Position is full-time, 40 hours per week beginning late May and ending mid-August
Pay Rate: $19.

The purpose of this internship opportunity is to gain real world experience, knowledge and understanding of the business through hands on activities, coaching, and projects.
This includes supporting management in the implementation of food safety and food quality processes and procedures.
Work alongside QA Supervisors, QC Coordinators & QC techs.
Assist with preparations for food safety audits (internal, customer & 3rd party audits).
Complete projects related to allergen validation and allergen drift.
Assist with calibration program for lab equipment.
Assist with dispositioning of holds (back testing, risk analysis, etc.
)
Complete other projects as assigned.
Provide leadership on food safety and quality in our facility.

What you bring to the party:
High School Diploma or GED and/or 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Preferably an incoming college junior or senior in food science, microbiology, chemistry, biology, or other science field with cumulative GPA of 3.
0 or higher
Must have knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
A lot of data collection will be required for this position.
Able to be on feet 4-8 hours a day as needed
Comfortable learning and working with instrumentation
Ability to perform all duties required in both office and manufacturing environments wearing proper PPE.
Have the desire and ability to work well both independently and cross functionally.
Possess a strong work ethic
Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States
Have reliable transportation to and from working location.
