Essential Job Duties
Perform preventative maintenance on agricultural equipment and structures
Identify and repair defective equipment
Install and/or repair equipment as directed by supervisor
Develop the mechanical skills of self and others through training
Use people, time, equipment and material in the most efficient manner
Keep work areas clean
Strictly adhere to all safety rules and procedures
Report mechanical, electrical operation problems and unsafe conditions to supervisor
Other duties as required by the business.
Good attendance, safety, disciplinary, and overall employment records
Adhere to all company policies and all safety, food safety, feed safety, and sanitation rules and programs
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent desired
Two or more years experience in mechanics desired
Commercial driver’s license required (or attainable within 12 months)
Class A or B driver’s license with air brake endorsement
Must be able to obtain a Medical Examiners Certificate
Must have a clear driving record
Motivated, willing, enthusiastic
Good attendance, safety, disciplinary and overall employment records
Ability to communicate and work cohesively with others
Knowledge and willingness to follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure personal and co-worker safety under all elevations, conditions and situations
Physically capable of using all safety equipment required to work safely, and physically capable of safely performing all maintenance tasks
Ability to read and understand written information, including manuals, schematics and blueprints and to use good individual judgment without constant, direct supervision
Demonstrated skill in four of the following:
Lubrication
Pumps
Engines
Measurement and Alignment
Identification and working with metals
Bearings
Basic Arc welding
Identification and working with non-metal
Welding
Hand Tools
Knowledge and skills in at least four of the following:
Gas welding and brazing
Arc welding
Plasma cutting
Drive components
Basic machine shop
Hand and power tools
Engines and turbines
Hydraulics
Work planning and setup
Elements of mechanics
Rigging
Pneumatics
Blue print reading
Flame cutting
Basic electricity
Piping systems
Heating, venting and air conditioning construction
Coatings and painting
Organized with excellent time management skills
Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels
Physical Demands and Expectations
• Able to stand or walk on concrete floors for an entire eight hour shift if necessary
• Able to bend and lift – 20 to 100 pounds
• Able to climb stairs
• Able to work in temperature extremes (cold and hot)
• Able to work in noisy and dusty conditions
