Job Summary/Basic Function
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide customer service to Dining Services customers by controlling access to the dining room and collecting payment for meals.
This includes welcoming and greeting guests and treating them with care and respect.
It also includes helping with dining room cleanliness, setting up food stations, and replenishing food and supplies.
Position Responsibilities
1.
Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position.
2.
Welcome customers and guests to the dining center and provide customer service to meet the needs and requests of our guests by collecting payment for access to the dining center via meal plans, cash payment, or other forms of tender – 55%
3.
Uphold Dining Service policies and procedures and provide for the security of the dining room and our guests – 15%
4.
Clean tables, replenish supplies, and other duties between meal periods – 15%
5.
Work with student employees, co-workers, and management in student employee recruitment and retention.
Other duties as assigned – 5%
6.
Set up Fresh & Fillings stations on Saturday and Sunday morning to be ready to open.
Follow template setups and review menu daily ensuring the right menu items are used —10%
Minimum Qualifications
High-School Diploma/GED;
Take ServSafe course and pass ServSafe exam or pass internal food safety exam within first year of employment;
1 year customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Skills and Abilities:
• Basic employment skills: reading, oral and written communication, performing simple arithmetic including cash counting and balancing, operate an electronic cash register;
• Requires basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation and current certification or ability to become certified with ServSafe or similar program;
• Requires knowledge of excellent customer service working directly with customer in a food service environment;
• Skilled in scanning identification cards, processing guest meals, cash transactions and report generation;
• Customer service skills in working with the public;
• Communication skills to give directions to student employees and work with other staff to ensure that proper procedures are being followed, and be able to engage our customers with an attitude of willingness and dedication to serve;
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
