Design Direction is looking to add an Interior Designer to our team.
You’d be joining a fun, talented and collaborative group of interior designers who work independently, yet have a team mindset, available to bounce ideas off each other to better our clients projects, and help one another grow in our professional journey.
We are looking for a motivated team member to willing to assist our team on current projects and develop new clientele while advancing their career in being part of the continued growth of the organization.
Design Direction is an Interior Design firm and growing retail showroom with a strong residential client base, along with an expanding commercial project market.
The candidate will have an opportunity to work with clients throughout the scope of the project which may include interior design services such as: space planning, specifying finishes from plumbing fixtures, lighting, cabinets, millwork, paint colors, flooring and tile to selling the flooring, tile, window treatments, furniture and wallcovering through our showroom.
Job Description – Interior Designer/Sales Consultant
Responsibilities
• Assist team members as needed, while developing and growing own clientele
• Meet with clients to understand their need.
• Create interior design concepts, such as cabinet layouts, fireplace elevations, and furniture layouts
• Specify finish materials
• Take job site measurements and/or blueprint take off to determine material quantities
• Create estimates, proposals, detailed installation work orders and schedule installations
• Place orders, specify lead time, track, receive and check in products
• Work closely with project manager and/or general contractor on project as needed
• Meet with vendor representatives and work as part of the team to maintain the materials library and showroom
Education and Experience
• 2 or 4 year Interior Design degree and minimum 2 years in the design industry
• AutoCAD and Sketch Up software experience preferred
• Valid Driver’s License

• Effectively juggle multiple projects and clients on a daily basis, with a strong emphasis on organization and follow-up skills
• Efficiently Collaborate in a team environment
• Ability to work independently, with supervision from lead designer
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, reliable, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Strong professional work ethic
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to solve problems effectively and creatively
• Proven ability to read and understand construction documents
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
