The Dakota Boys and Girl Ranch is looking for a Development Officer to join our fundraising team on the Minot
Starting wage: $49,000-$73,000, DOE
What you will do: Over one-third of the services we provide to the children in our care are purely donor supported.
Fundraising is a critical component in meeting these amazing kids’ needs.
We are currently recruiting an additional Development Officer at our Minot, ND location to raise financial, prayer and advocacy support for important services.
You must love to meet people, listen to their stories, hopes, and goals; and develop ongoing stewardship relationships.
Purpose
We incorporate sustainable excellence into all our operations and energetically share the mission of the Ranch to donors and friends in truthful, uplifting, and honest ways.
Manage an assigned list of donors, prospects, congregations and church-related groups (eg: LWML, WELCA, etc) from a designated geographic region for cultivation and solicitation.
Visit with pastors, drop off updated materials, answer questions and conduct speaking engagements for groups as requested
Compile and analyze information about potential contributors, including corporations and businesses, to develop a cultivation and solicitation strategy.

Attend donor appointments and all meetings on time and prepared
have an attitude of gratitude by assisting with thank you/birthday cards to donors
communicate (phone/in-person/email) in an effective and polite manner to inform and educate donors about the agency and to persuade them to contribute funds or gifts by explaining purpose and benefits of the contribution.
Learning
We stay current on best practices of charitable giving and utilize new technologies to better streamline our processes.
Remain current and informed on Blackbaud RE/NXT, taking classes and webinars as needed
Work with program staff to develop funding proposals
When necessary, confer with appropriate financial advisors to learn about various established methods of transferring funds to benefit both donors and the Ranch
Attend approved continuing education opportunities (ie: relevant conferences and training programs)
Qualifications
21 years of age or older
Ability to pass a background check, including criminal & abuse
Bachelor's degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required to travel 50% of the time; must have ability to travel in car and fly by plane to and from appointments
Preference given to someone with previous fundraising/development experience
To be successful in this position:
The ideal candidate will have
Fundraising experience (preferred) or sales experience
Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/NXT preferred, or willingness to learn
Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office & Excel
Proficiency in mathematics
