Job Roles and Responsibilities:
The Departments of Plant Pathology & Plant Sciences are looking for an enthusiastic and hard worker student that can support the IT needs for both departments.
The candidate will support computers systems and a variety of off-the-shelf applications, as well as vendor applications used in laboratories.
The IT Support Student Technician will play a critical role in the success of both departments by providing outstanding support for its users regarding hardware and software applications.
We are looking for a candidate that has the ability to manage multiple tasks, set and track goals for reporting, and help guide the department and users on technical decisions.
This person should also have the ability to work with either Linux workstations and legacy Windows workstations.
Minimum Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in Windows and Linux operating systems
Excellent problem solving, multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills
Solid understanding of data communication technologies (USB, Firewire, Ethernet)
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Work beside NDSU IT Services & and Cybersecurity departments to manage workstations, which includes installation, maintenance and upgrades.
Recommend the appropriate resource-capable workstation hardware based on user requirements in collaboration with IT Ag Communications and ITS.
Effective understanding of NDSU Networking and active directory
Preferred Requirements:
Previous customer support experience is preferred
Experience with administering virtual machines
Experience with workstation maintenance
Experience with installing and configuring workstations operating systems
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of simple scripting or automation on tasks with Windows and Linux
Work Schedule:
Monday thru Friday
