Summary: The SSUSA Sign Shop Manager will provide overall leadership direction to all Sign Shop employees, including the management of product quality, timeliness, and safety, as well as mentoring, coaching, and developing a cohesive and efficient team.
This position leads the continuous improvement processes for sign and metal fabrication manufacturing, production planning, and logistics and is responsible to manage the relationships and communication with the sales and construction departments.
The position requires the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in a fast-paced ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise; along with the capability to creatively problem solve and bring together viable solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary along with attention to detail.

Essential Functions: Overall management of materials, personnel, and operations of the West Fargo Sign Shop.
Supervision of sign shop leadership; train, develop and coach employees to ensure success through consistent communication.
Provide leadership and direction to teams regarding expectations and project timelines.
Complete and deliver performance evaluations for employees in leadership structure, excluding logistics.
Review and approve sign shop supervisor timecards on a daily basis.
Screens, interviews, hires, develops and disciplines all sign shop personnel as necessary to maintain the productive capacity and quality to meet the ongoing needs of the business.
Drive continuous improvement in all sales, manufacturing, purchasing, shipping (in/out), and administrative processes.
Develops and executes strategies and tactics that drive sign and related products capacity both within our region and beyond (nationally for signs).
Provides overall leadership and direction for production planning, logistics, and sign layout and design processes in a manufacturing environment.
Work in conjunction with the Sign Shop Supervisors on the daily scheduling of sign shop employees.
Works with the Director - IT & Inventory Management and the Assistant Manager – Production Planning and Logistics on interbranch freight associated with Sign Solutions USA and 3D Construction Materials.
Manages all 3D Specialties and Sign Solutions USA inventory physical counts and works to improve the inventory process.
Track inventory of aluminum, sheeting, and related components on a real-time basis similar to the on-hand/allocated/available method in Vista.
Backs up the Assistant Manager – Production Planning and Logistics in purchasing all materials required to produce sign products when necessary.
Assists retail sales team in responses to RFQ’s including ordering or creating proofs for approval.
Maintains full understanding of Highway Traffic Sign specifications at the Federal, State, County and City levels.
Keep abreast of traffic signing regulations for the entire sales region.
Attend conventions/sales functions as appropriate.
Manages and maintains business relationships with vendors and customers, both internal and external to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality on completed orders.
Authorize payments of all freight and sign shop invoices.
Lead weekly Sign Shop meetings (safety/training, workload/deadlines, product education/knowledge, etc.
) Serves as a back-up to Assistant Manager – Production Planning and Logistics in their absence.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience is required.
BS degree in Business, Marketing, Graphic Arts, or related field from an accredited college, plus ERP experience is desired.
Experience and Skills Required: Solid signage regulations background Strong technical, organization, and leadership skills Strong knowledge of ERP systems & computer networks Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office with particular emphasis on Excel Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and have good public relations skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
