Valley City State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Choral Music.
The Department of Music at Valley City State University is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Music/Director of Choral Activities.
The successful applicant will coordinate and direct all choral ensembles in rehearsal and in concert and will also teach other coursework according to departmental need and in alignment with their area(s) of expertise.
Teaching responsibilities will include 12 credits per semester (Fall and Spring) in both face-to-face and online environments.
Service to the university, active engagement in recruiting efforts, and continued engagement in academic activities (performance, research, etc.
) are also expected.
Minimum Qualifications Earned Master’s Degree in Music Documented Evidence of Choral Conducting Experience Preferred Qualifications Earned Doctorate in Choral Conducting or related field (ABD permitted) Documented collegiate choral conducting experience Documented ability to teach in 1 or more cognate areas, such as music theory, music history, aural skills, methods courses for education majors, etc.
Evidence of performance ability on keyboard instruments (piano, organ, etc.
) suitable to assist choral students with parts and assist in departmental collaborative piano efforts Documented successes in recruitment within the K-12 or higher education environments Compensation: The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and typically ranges from $47,000 to $52,000 annually pending experience and qualifications.
This position is a 9-month, full-time position.
In some cases, summer duties may be arranged through an additional contract.
