Job Summary/Basic Function
The CSTA Department invites applications to join the communication studies faculty.
Normal teaching load is three courses (the equivalent of twelve semester hours) per semester.
Instruction in the college-wide required course that includes interpersonal, group, and intercultural communication, and public speaking.
Preference for candidates who could assist with media co-curricular activities and who can contribute to teaching in an area of specialization within the department, including health communication, intercultural communication, business and professional communication, integrated marketing communication, video and audio production, or advertising.
Advisement of undergraduate majors, participation in departmental projects, and involvement in college-wide activities is required.
Summer school teaching is possible for additional compensation.
The department consists of 9 full-time faculty.
Two faculty are in theatre, with the balance in communication studies.
Currently, approximately 150 students are declared majors or minors in the department.
All departmental faculty members teach the college-wide required course.
Individual faculty offices and all course offerings are housed in the Olin Communication Center.
The Olin Center houses the campus radio station, a television production facility, and video editing lab.
All classrooms are both video equipped and connected to the campus computer network.
All faculty have access to personal as well as networked computer resources.

Minimum Qualifications
1.
Ability to teach the college-wide required communication course.
2.
Demonstrated preparation and experience in teaching an area of specialization appropriate to the departmental curriculum.
3.
Personal philosophy in sympathy with the aims and objectives of a liberal arts college.
4.
Master’s degree in Communication or closely-related field.
Preferred Qualifications
1.
Excellence in classroom teaching.
2.
Demonstrated preparation and experience teaching some combination of health communication, intercultural communication, business and professional communication, integrated marketing communication, video and audio production, and advertising.
3.
Willingness and ability to assist with media co-curricular activities (television, radio).
4.
Ph.
D.
in Communication Studies completed by August 20th, 2024.
