TRIO UB works collaboratively with the campus community to provide local high school students who are considered income-eligible and/or first-generation with inclusive, comprehensive services, and co-curricular experiences aimed to enhance retention and foster student success.
This position coordinates and delivers project services for the grant and program participants and works collaboratively with the campus community to provide students with inclusive, comprehensive services, and co-curricular experiences aimed to enhance retention and foster student success.
- Coordinate in collaboration with the Project Director the development of academic and summer component curricula and activities framework in accordance with federal and grant requirements.
- Assist in the recruitment of eligible students at target schools as well as feeder schools in an effort to meet recruiting goals at each target school.
- Coordinate and oversee the student and parent/guardian interview process and selection.
- Establish and maintain a student referral process with school personnel and community partners.
- Coordinate and attend meetings to address concerns and interventions with adults in students’ support systems.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring and training of student staff and summer teachers.
- Provide leadership to student staff and staff trainings.
- Assist with database management and annual performance reports.
- Keep stakeholders informed of project progress and results.
- Advise UB students on academic issues, post-secondary preparation, and selection.
- Monitor academic success and progress, and develop appropriate academic interventions.
- Assist students in meeting program objectives.
- Meet monthly with participants in targets schools for advising, skill-building, college preparation, and support.
- Prepare IAP and monitor progress.
- Assist students in identifying their needs, goals, and steps to achieve them.
- Monitor student behavior and progress toward goal completion.
- Record student progress, activities, and interventions.
- Provide on-going student assessments and refer students to appropriate school and community resources, as necessary.
- Maintain regular communication with adults in students support systems.
- Assist with developing and adhering to project budget.
- Assist with federal regulations and grant compliance.
- Assist with all areas of project administration.
- Assist with preparing grant proposals and seeking additional funding sources, as needed.
- Attend monthly TRIO and Upward Bound meetings.
- Attend professional trainings and conferences.
- Maintain membership and participation in regional/state TRIO association.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM, 7:30AM-4PM during breaks and summer, occasional nights and weekends Advertised Salary: $46,580 plus excellent benefits package Minimum Qualifications: -Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field -Significant experience (1-3 years) working with low-income, first generation, historically underrepresented and students from other diverse backgrounds -Knowledge of collegiate academic and financial programs -Commitment to Service, Teamwork, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion -Must be valid motor vehicle license and be able to travel to local high schools (mileage reimbursed) Preferred Qualifications: -Master’s Degree -Experience in teaching/advising, curriculum or related activities with school age students -Recruiting experience -Experience keeping detailed records -Computer skills -Experience with TRIO -Ability to network with public schools and University personnel Applicant Materials Required: Cover letter addressing how required qualifications are met, resume, contact information for 3 professional references Benefits: NDSU offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes single or family health insurance coverage with premiums paid for by the university – with an effective date for new employees the first of the month following date of hire.
