The International Student and Study Abroad Services (ISSAS) is a comprehensive, international education office championing internationalization activities at North Dakota State University (NDSU).
The International Student Advisor is part of a dynamic, energetic team of advisors who provide direct support to international students (F and J visa holders) and the broader international community at NDSU.
The international student advisor builds and maintains relationships with an assigned group of international students with the goal of ensuring students maintain their visa status, successfully adapt to life in the US and at NDSU, address personal matters that may affect their continued attendance at NDSU, and other concerns that arise throughout the course of a student’s time studying at NDSU.
A successful international student advisor contributes to achieving international student enrollment goals through supporting incoming international students during the intake process prior to each semester, designing and delivering student retention programs throughout the academic year, and staying current on the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) for the F and J visa programs in the US.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM, 7:30AM-4PM during breaks and summer, with some evening and weekend hours throughout the academic year.
Advertised Salary:
$45,000+ DOE plus excellent benefits
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS); experience working, studying or living abroad for at least one semester/6 months; US Citizenship or permanent residency in accordance with US CFRs to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of a foreign language/foreign language study; experience completing detailed tasks, organization of tasks and use of independent judgment; NAFSA or other professional training related to F and/or J CFRs.
